Every staff member at DARE Disability Support shares the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a fulfilling life. Who we are
Our History
DARE Disability Support, originally established as the Blue Mountains Handicapped Children’s Centre (1961–1963) and later known as Eloura (1963–2014), was founded in 1961 by a group of dedicated parents in Katoomba.
Driven by the unmet needs of their children, these parents created opportunities that were otherwise unavailable, paving the way for meaningful support services in the region.
In 2014, we officially became DARE Disability Support, continuing the founders’ caring ethos. Today, we proudly provide quality support across the Blue Mountains, Penrith, and Hawkesbury regions.

Support Services
DARE Disability Support offers a comprehensive range of disability services, including Supported Independent Living (SIL), Community and Recreational activities, Support Coordination, and Supported Employment. Our services are designed to empower individuals and provide personalised support tailored to meet each person’s unique needs.
Supported Employment
DARE Industries
At DARE Industries, we provide supported employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities across various industries. Our team manufactures products, including custom-made and hand-painted stakes and pegs for a diverse range of clients. Many employees work within our ADE (Australian Disability Enterprise) division, excelling in woodwork, assembly, packaging, book-covering, and more. These roles empower individuals to develop skills, build confidence, and contribute meaningfully in a supportive workplace.
Our dedicated grounds crew delivers professional landscaping and grounds maintenance services to clients throughout the Blue Mountains. Based in Springwood, our employment program offers participants the chance to earn money while honing their skills in an inclusive and supportive environment. Whether tending to gardens or managing larger outdoor spaces, our team takes pride in delivering quality results for every client.
