DARE’S RESPONSE

COVID Committee

During the lockdown of the Greater Sydney Area in 2021, DARE formed a COVID Committee. The aim of this committee was to ensure the safety of all staff and clients through. The committee met weekly to discuss the latest changes to restrictions both state wide and disability specific and also to run through scenarios such as an infection in one of DARE’s houses or in the workplace. The committee developed policies, protocols and procedures to deal with an infection and role played each step to ensure the entire team knew what to do in the event of an outbreak within the organisation.

VACCINATIONS

DARE Disability Support is extremely proud and happy to announce that 100% of our Supported Independent Living (SIL) residents, clients and staff have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

These vaccinations took place back in July 2021 when DARE, with the assistance of Wentworth Healthcare, the provider of the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network (NBMPHN) and the Nepean Blue Mountains Local health district (NBMLHD) organised over 200 shots of the Pfizer vaccine to be administered to DARE’s SIL residents and staff. DARE actively sought out alternate methods to obtain the vaccine as the Commonwealth rollout had not progressed in a timely manner, leaving DARE’s SIL residents and staff at risk.

DARE residents, clients and staff had access to their booster shots.
